Usage

Backitude: Push

Push= Update someone else location via SMS (other user has to have Backitude installed and SMS updates turned on.) The person sending the push request has to do the following:

  1. Open Backitude
  2. Tap "Extras"
  3. Tap "Fire Update on a Friend"
  4. Text interface opens, choose contact for the To: field and click Send.
  5. Tap "Back" to exit text interface and go back to Backitude

note: When you choose Fire Update on a Friend, Backitude opens the text message interface. You will have to back out of the text message interface to get back to Backitude. The actual SMS message sent to the target phone reads:

Force Backitude Update

You don't have to use the Backitude interface to push an update on the target device. You can text from your device to the target device using the key phrase and this will trigger their phone to update position. The Backitude key phrase messages are suppressed without alerting the user, by design.

The target phone user must have Backtitude configured to accept push updates. They need to do the following:

  1. Open Backitude
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Scroll down, find and tap "Push Update Settings"
  4. check "Push Enabled"
