Gibbed SaveEdit is a utility for hacking or cheating by artificially upgrading or otherwise modifying a player character abilities, weapons and other game elements for the Borderlands 2 Game. With Gibbed SaveEdit you are able to open, modify, and save data in the player saved data files. It supports modifying PC, XBox360, and Sony Play Station 3 (PS3) data although the Gibbed SaveEdit software runs on a Microsoft Windows PC only.

Direct Profile Edit

Backup all profile data for Borderlands 2 first.

1. On the PS3 running Rogero Custom Firmware launch Multiman with full FTP access enabled.

2. FTP download to the PC your Borderlands 2 savadata

dev_hdd0\home\0000000?\savedata\BLUS????

The Borderlands 2 savedata folders look something like: BLUS30910-PROFILE and BLUS30910-SAVE-SAVE0001

  • BLUS30910-PROFILE - contains all savedata for all games. The number part will be different for you.
  • BLUS30910-SAVE-SAVE0001 - are game savedata. You only want the ones for Borderlands 2.

3. Use PARAM_SFO_Editor.exe to open PARAM.SFO file to determine which Borderlands 2 character it is.

4. To decrypt PS3 savedata before you can edit use a utility called Bruteforce Save Data or BSD for short. Open BSD and load the file that looks like BLUS30910-SAVE-SAVE0001 that is for the character you wish to modify.

5. In BSD right click on the icon for the character savedata and SETTINGS -> GLOBAL SETTINGS then change the profile number to match the one for your character. You will also need to enter your PS3 Console ID, a number that is unique to your PS3. Click the refresh button then click DECRYPT PFD. The button appears as one in a horizontal line of buttons that represent a process. You can skip right to decrypt by clicking that button. Leave BSD open.

6. Open and use the Gibbed Borderlands 2 SaveEdit program to select and open the now decrypted character save file. In the Open dialog box MAKE SURE YOU SELECT file type PS3 or you will get an error. It defaults to PC.

7. Make your modifications according to the guide on using Gibbed Borderlands 2 SaveEdit. Errors or changes outside of the allowable parameters will corrupt your player savedata. Save changes.

8. With Gibbed modifications complete go back to BSD (Alt-TAB) and Re-encrypt the file. Click Verify.

9. FTP upload the entire BLUS30910-SAVE-SAVE0001 folder of the character you modified. Overwrite.

If your player will not load because the game says it is corrupted, then restore from backup and try again. You made an invalid modification or you forgot a step in the process.

Editing / Upgrading Tips

  • When you upgrade the level of Backpack items like guns, be sure to set the "Manufacturer Grade" and "Game Stage" to the same value or the item (gun, shield, etc) will default to the lower of the two values.

Steam Borderlands 2 and Pre-Sq Paths

If you do Borderlands 2 or the Pre-Sequel on Steam the game save data file paths are (something like):
