ways to root
Check out Z4ROOT in the market. The app makes it easy to root the Pro. See the dev's thread on XDA:

Use the permanent root and you can un-root from the app. The temporary root option are for a handful of phones like the Incredible that will root but lose root after a reboot.
try moving the apk to system/app folder and launching? Also took me two tries, same as radyoactive. Got stuck for a half hour, so I pulled the battery and tried again with success.
No available ROMs yet for the Pro.

Pete's tool works with 2.3.3, but not with 2.3.4.

CAN'T BE DONE WITHOUT DOWNGRADE TO 2.3.3
I was on the fully updated version of Gingerbread for Droid Pro i.e., 2.3.4 with System Version 4.7.3.XT610.Verizon.en.US.
I tried using Z4Root on my Droid Pro 2.3.4, but that didn't work out.
I read through many forums and I learnt that the promising way to Root Droid Pro 2.3.4 is by downgrading it to Gingerbread 2.3.3 and using Pete's motorola tools or by using Super One Click. Hence I took this approach.
The rooting method may not work for you if you are on a different version or if your Droid Pro is from Argentina etc. Mine is a Verizon US Droid Pro.

I think the only way you can root on 4.3.4 is to use the app OTA rootkeeper while you were still on 4.3.3, then upgrade (loosing root) And then restoring with OTA. I have heard that any attempt to SBF from 4.3.4 will brick your phone.
I was able to use the SBF files from this topic to go back to 2.26.20, root the phone, then install OTA root keeper, upgrade, restore root, upgrade, restore root...... now i'm at 2.3.4 with root. For some reason i didn't work the first time when i didn't restore root after each update. Also good to note, make sure your laptop sleep setting is extended or off mine went to sleep on my first attempt and bricked the phone.
