VideoCipher is a brand name of analog scrambling equipment for satellite television invented in 1983 by Linkabit systems. There are several variants of the Videocipher. Videocipher II or VC2 for short is the version used to scramble broadcasts previously received by people with home satellite systems.

HBO was the first network to implement VC2 back in 1985.

The current version of VC2 as of January 2008 is Videocipher 6.02. Autoroll 6.54 for C Band Satellite is a hack used to defeat VC2 6.02.
