In December of 2016, Microsoft announced it was ending support for Windows Essentials. The last version launched in 2012 with the release of Windows 8. Since then, the software has been in maintenance mode. Even though Micro$oft promised to remove the software by January 10, 2017, its still available for download. The path from the Microsoft web site is gone. The file is still available on Microsoft servers. Use the Way Back Machine to be directed to the file download path.
