They are NOT free.

Many VPN clients for handhelds use PPTP to connect to a VPN server, which is used by many operating systems and commercial platforms. Various Windows server and Windows workstation OSs, Linux, and others support PPTP, as do Cisco, SnapGear, WatchGuard, and Netopia firewalls and appliances. One dedicated PPTP client is Mergic VPN for Palm OS, v. 1.1.

IPSec is of course the second common VPN protocol and that protocol is supported by movianVPN, which supports both Palm and Pocket PC 2002 devices.

Configuration Example

Configuring VPN for Palm OS 5.2

These instructions assume that you have a wi-fi network card installed/configured to connect to SAMPLENETWORK

  1. Click on VPN Setup to begin the Mergic VPN setup.
  2. Under account name, type SAMPLENETWORK VPN.
  3. Under username, type in your VPN Logon ID.
  4. Under password, you can either leave it as is on the prompt (where you will be prompted for your VPN Logon ID password when connecting) or type your VPN Logon ID password which will then be saved.
  5. Under vpn server address, type in the IP of your VPN server ex: 192.169.0.1
  6. Click on details, and uncheck Query DNS.
  7. Type in a primary and secondary DNS Server IP address ex: 64.21.192.5
  8. Click OK, and then click Done.
  9. Under vpn preferences, make sure vpn is enabled, and make sure SAMPLENETWORK VPN is the account that is active, and click Done.
  10. Whenever you use an application that requires a network connection you will connect to the vpn and be prompted for your password or automatically connected (if you have saved your password).

OpenVPN with Palm T|X

AFAIK as of July 2007 this is not possible or not supported. The following are references to related posts on this subject.
