Winchester Models from the Henry to the 1895 ranged greatly within the model designations themselves. Special order options were available making for a great deal of variants. Options included front and rear special sights, half or 2/3 magazines, takedown, different barrel lengths from 14 to 18 inches, special finishes, different woods, different buttplates and various other configuration options.

There was a fire at the Winchester plant in 1961 resulting in the destruction of factory production records. Due to the fire there is very little factory data on rifles produced between around 1907 to 1961.
