The TL11 uses a small synchronous AC motor turning a cam against a comb of switch contacts. The AC motor is turned at an accurate rate by the alternating current, which power companies carefully regulate. Gears drive a shaft at the desired rate, and turn the cam. An advantage to the mechanical design versus a completely electronic timer is that mechanical switch contacts remain more cost effective than the semiconductor timer devices needed to control devices of the same current demand.

The Intermatic Electric Timer TL11 is sometimes advertised as the Intermatic Electric Water Heater Timer TL11. It is NOT the same as the Intermatic WH21 even though some sources use the model designations interchangeably. The WH21 is an entirely different unit. The TL11 is similar in appearance to the Intermatic Electric Timer TL21, yet again, these are different units.

  • The Intermatic Electric Timer TL11 is also known as the Intermatic Electric Water Heater Timer TL11
  • Intermatic Electric Timer TL11 is NOT the same as the Intermatic Electronic Water Heater Timer WH21

Intermatic Incorporated discontinued the Electric Timer TL11 and offers no parts and no documentation. Although the Intermatic web site has manuals for current and discontinued products, it offers no documentation for the Electric Timer TL11.

The only documentation available, upon request, for the Intermatic Electric Timer TL11 from Intermatic is this one in the illustration below:
