Graphics cards (Nvidia) require proprietary drivers to operate correctly. Linux is an open-source platform, and many Linux operating systems choose not to ship closed-source drivers. AMD Radeon GPUs often use open-source drivers. Linux developers do not control the drivers AMD does. Cards not supported will never get drivers, no matter how many Mint editions come out.
