This motherboard has a high failure rate due to a known defect.

According to the Hewlett Packard support forum, "The Nvidia chipset runs too hot eventually burning out." It is a manufacturing flaw. [...] "Sometimes it burns out the I/O controller. " [...] "these mother boards perform well until that chipset over heats."

Symptoms:

You may start to experience occasional blue screen errors in Windows or occasional drive errors. Eventually the system will fail to boot entirely or fail to recognize any connected SATA drive. The system will boot from USB or CDROM bootable media. This is because the SATA controller is no longer able to reliably communicate with the connected drive. The SATA controller eventually fails to recognize any attached SATA drive.

Suggested Workaround:

Install a SATA drive controller card. Disable onboard SATA support in the BIOS.

It is recommended that you do not replace the motherboard with an identical model since they all have the same problem and will eventually prematurely fail.
