Antenna Specialists MS-119 Super Scanner
The only "two antennas" antenna. It scans 360 degrees in milliseconds with 5.75 dB gain. Or beams an 8.75 dB gain signal where and when you want it - instantaneously. And you'll wish you had a radio as handsome as the control box. This is the advertising blurb used to market this unique antenna.
Antron 99 / Solarcon A99
- 1/2 wave vertical antenna type
This antenna is a half wave over a quarter wave variable mutual inductance antenna. The Antron 99 is roughly 18 feet long and is made of 3 fiberglass sections which screw together. Inside the shell the actual radiating element of the antenna is just a 16 awg wire. The truth is that other antennas of better quality and performance will easily outperform the A99 at pretty much any height. The Antron 99 was popular due mostly to hype and the very low price. A good 5/8th wave metal antenna will outperform the A99 under any conditions. The Antron 99 is also known to be bad for causing interference. If mounted low to the ground the signal will find its way into your TV, stereo, phone and computer speakers. Claims by Solarcon of 9.9 dBi gain are over inflated and misleading. In conclusion this was probably the biggest hyped CB antenna ever made.
Avanti AV-101 Astro Plane
- 1/4 wave ground plane vertical omni-directional antenna type
This is a good metal base antenna for being a quarter-wave antenna, however, as a quarter-wave antenna it is limited in what can be achieved in horizontal signal gain. It is a 1/4 wave ground plane with a free space gain of 2.15 dbi. Exactly the same as a unity gain dipole. The Astro Plane can best be described as a short J-Pole.
Avanti Moonraker 4 AV-140
The Moonraker 4 uses the cubical quad type reflector for increased gain and superb rejection of signals from unwanted directions. Thus this antenna achieves exceptionally low VSWR across the tuned frequency range. The boom length is 16' 5" long.

Hy-Gain SPT-500 Super Penetrator
- 5/8th wave vertical ground plane type
Interceptor 10K
- 5/8 wave vertical antenna type
Shakespeare Big Stick 176
- 1/2 wave vertical antenna type
This is a 1/2 wave fiberglass antenna. It is 18 ft tall and is made up of a 10 ft and an 8 ft piece.
