If you drop your Android device in water, there are some steps you can take to try and save it from being damaged.
- Do not attempt to switch the phone on. You risk doing further damage by water reacted short circuit.
- Remove the battery, SIM card and MicroSD card if applicable.
- Dry what you can with a towel, and blow out water with compressed air.
- Submerge the phone in a bowl of dry rice to absorb moisture.
- Wait a full 24 hours before trying to turn on the phone.
These steps will increase the chances of preserving the phone. Once the phone has been exposed to water, it may not function as well or assume the same longevity. It may not recover at all.
