WINDOWS [ ] Create a Windows System Restore Point [ ] Current Service Pack installed [ ] Install available Windows Security Updates [ ] MSIE current [ ] Check Device Drivers for ! SOFTWARE [ ] Stop unwanted startup programs (HKEY LU, KKEY LM, STARTUP GRP) TSR(s) [ ] Recover HDD Space [ ] Check registry integrity [ ] Test for bad sectors and file system fragmentation [ ] Check protected system files, repair if necessary [ ] Check installed software, remove unnecessary software [ ] Update Macromedia Flash and Silverlight [ ] Update Firefox / Chrome [ ] Update DirectX Internet Explorer [ ] Tighten MSIE Security Settings [ ] Clean web browser activity (cache, history) HARDWARE [ ] Boot system prior to removal of components or cleaning [ ] Clean system with compressed air [ ] Wipe down exterior [ ] Clean optical drive [ ] Visual Inspect Motherboard for issues [ ] Test Power supply
