how 49MHz children's toys became pirate radio stations

Apparently, the 2nd harmonic of the 49MHz walkie talkie and baby monitors was in the FM broadcast band, right around 99Mhz. One example is 99.72MHz. After fiddling inside a bit it was possible to boost the second harmonic of the low end transmitter to create a crude FM pirate radio station.
