Blocking Google Doodles

Firefox

Option 1 (no longer works):

Right click on the Google doodle image and choose "View Image Info" to open a dialog box that displays information about the image on the page. Near the bottom there is a Media Preview, and above that a checkbox labeled "Block images from google.com." By checking the check box the google doodle and google logo will no longer appear.

Update: The "View Image Info" option is absent from newer versions of Firefox such as Firefox 89 or later. You can restore the option via "browser.menu.showViewImageInfo" in about:config by changing FALSE to TRUE. Even with the option enabled, the ability to BLOCK IMAGES is still absent. The "Block images from ..." feature has been removed as of version Firefox 72.0 - Bug 1596836 - yet another example of how Firefox has gone to hell.

Option 2: Tested and verified works on Firefox version 115.3.1esr (64-bit)

Install: Hide Google Doodles - Get this Extension for Firefox (en-US)

Chrome 63

In the URL bar type:

chrome://flags/

or

about:flags
  1. Switch setting “Enable using the Google local NTP” to “Enabled”
  2. Switch setting “Enable doodles on the local NTP” to "Disabled"
  3. restart Chrome

And if you still see Doodles then try this Extension to Chrome:
