1987 Pontiac Fiero
The 1987 base model Pontiac Fiero is a 2-seat 4-cylinder mid engine rear wheel drive light sports car. In 1987 the base and Sport Coupe models received new fascia's in the front and rear. Power came from a 2.5-liter EFI four that had increased air flow and more power. The base and Sport coupe models rode on 14-inch Tri-Tech wheel covers, a four-spoke steering wheel, a full-length console, and cloth-appointed bucket seats and trim. The Fiero had the first-ever mid-engine car from any American auto manufacturer.
Starting with the 1987 model Pontiac dealerships offered an upgrade in the form of an “option” that changed the original body to a Pininfarina Ferrari 308-type body, called the Fiero Mera.
