From Magnum SemiRP Unturned Game Server: Declaration of Faction War

πŸ“Œ The term "griefing" describes an act of placing barricades or something in roadways, or blocking city buildings and or including any such construction related activity with intent to interfere with other player RP activity. This is not permitted on MagnumSRP. If you engage in such activity you will face consequences as this is a rule violation.

πŸ“Œ It is not considered "griefing" when said activity is deployed against a military installation as the purpose for such activity can not be proven as RP interference or a military tactic. Military operations against an opponent might include the use of barricades to frustrate the movement of troops or equipment in and out of a base. It is an annoying tactic, however, easily prevented by the use of claim flags.

πŸ“Œ It is the faction installation's responsibility to deploy claim flags to discourage or prevent things type of nuisance. Simply put, if it is against a town, the roads, or other RP implements it is griefing, if it is against a military installation then it is less easily defined and therefore not enforceable by staff. Use common sense and consideration.

Simple Stupid Examples:

  • Player A places metal sheets over Player B's gun store in a city area.

Griefing? YES - punitive action required, Player A may be warned or probation, or set as offender.

  • Player A places metal sheets on the side of Player B's military base located outside of a city.

Griefing? NO

  • Player A places metal sheets blocking the doors to Player B's farm located outside of a city.

Griefing? YES - helper assists in removal at Player B's request. Player A asked to refrain. Player B advised to use claim flags.

  • Player A places metal sheets or other obstacles in roadway not as part of a territorial boundary but just to block random traffic.

Griefing? YES - punitive action required, Player A may be warned or probation, or set as offender.

  • Player A builds a wall and gate over road blocking access to his faction territory.

Griefing? NO - it's allowed but people really hate it and it is not encouraged.

πŸ“Œ If your faction base is impacted by what you perceive to be griefing activity even though it does not meet our definition and staff take no punitive action, you can ask for a helper to assist in the removal of the barricades. This does not mean a staff member is obligated to assist, however, one often will gladly agree to help with the removal.

πŸ“Œ Use claim flags to prevent your base, farm, or other structural operation outside of city limits from being targeted by players wishing to blockade you with barricades. That's what they are for, those claim flags, and if you fail to use them then it is your own fault. If you did use claim flags and they were destroyed by other players then consider more strategic placement of the flags so that they are protected from attack.

offline raiding

As stated on the the MagnumSRP Web site since 2022, "This is a social problem and not something that can be solved by banning people."

MagnumSRP staff are not expected to police activity that is too broad in nature, and too difficult to prove with fact based evidence as well as being subject to opinion. Therefore, technology is use to prevent many aspects of these issues. We have a tech solution here on MagnumSRP, it is a map wide anti-raid plugin protection. It has improved since 2022 in that now not only registered faction bases are protected, but rather all player builds are protected all across the map. Registration is no longer necessary to benefit from anti-raid protection. There are, however, limits to this protection.

From Magnum SemiRP Unturned Game Server: Declaration of Faction War:

πŸ“Œ Offline raiding is discouraged, however, will not be policed by the helper staff. Your faction is best served by having enough members that one person is available to check on things from time to time. This is why small factions tend to perish easily.

πŸ“Œ On some faction servers a faction survives a long time by a tactic where all members simply agree to avoid the server for days at a time and therefore exploit rules against offline raiding to ensure the survival of their faction in name. If your faction group seeks survival by ghosting the server, think again.

πŸ“Œ It is best to have enough members that someone is around to check on things from time to time.

πŸ“Œ Helpers will not seek restitution from raiders even if you were offline.

It is advised you read the entire context from the Magnum SemiRP Unturned Game Server: Declaration of Faction War.

Remember that raid permits, listed as "explosives permit" in the shop can be used to blast though barricades; One permit per barricade. They are expensive and therefore it is impractical for one faction to use this as a tactic to successfully offline raid and defeat another faction by breaching their base and destroying their faction fox, unless, the victim faction made a very poor base design leaving their faction fox carelessly exposed -or- the victim faction has been inactive for a long time and their base has been chipped away permit by permit until successfully breached. Splash damage can destroy a faction fox.

Bases can become vulnerable if portions were constructed by players that fail to return to the server after a period of inactivity and decay is enabled. Small factions are vulnerable because they lack sufficient players to log in and check on things. Any faction that fails to attend to their base for days on end is vulnerable to offline raid. Yes, a faction can be defeated even if none of their members are online, as long as a registered faction is responsible for destroying the faction fox, an activity recorded in the log file.
