AssultCube

50star.png

A lightweight sized game, only 40MB to download, plus additional maps average 20KB each! This is a FPS (First Person Shooter) that you play against others over network. It is like Quake III Arena. AssaultCube is a FREE, multiplayer, first-person shooter game, based on the CUBE engine. For a single player mode you can add bots to hunt and kill. You can have friendly bots on your team as well as hunt enemy bots. Multi player and Single player action.

Older 1.1 version for Ubuntu

The Ubuntu package is out of date. If you do not care about online game play you can use the 1.1 version of assaultcube which can be installed easily with apt-get: As root or using sudo do the following:

apt-get install libsdl1.2Debian libsdl-image1.2 libsdl-image1.2-dev libopenal-dev
apt-get install assaultcube assaultcube-data

Redhat / Fedora / CentOS

I haven't checked to see if this is the latest install package, but you can give it a try. For RedHat based systems, type this at the command line:

yum install SDL SDL_image zlib libogg libvorbis openal-soft libcurl

Pre-Compiled Binary

The apt-get Debian package is old (version 1.1), and no one is maintaining it. To connect to online game servers from assultcube you will have to download (1.2) from here:

Then follow the instructions from here:

You are downloading a pre-compiled binary so there is no need to compile. The very latest binaries are available at:

Compile the Very Latest Version from Source
