Review
This camera captures very good quality video, even on the lower resolution settings. The 680K pixel video CCD delivers high resolution video images with superior color resolution and detail.
There is a flaw in the firmware that neglects to give any of the better quality settings (the 16:9 footage that's better than the "YouTube" quality) the "16:9 flag" setting. So what you get is footage that's squished narrow because all the players and editing apps see this video as 4:3.
There is no external microphone jack. This is a major defect. Without the ability to connect an external audio source, the user is limited to the built in camera microphone.
The auto-focus has difficulty locking in under indoor lighting conditions.
Aspect Ratio Issue
For users of the Samsung SC-MX20, this little program fixes the wide screen problem and gives the option to convert video files to a Windows Movie Maker friendly format.

This fix does not work well, produces a much larger file. Re-encodes is lossy and inefficient.
another fix:
See: SC-MX20 Video Encoding for Better Video Quality
another fix:
The Samsung MX20 does not tag its 16:9 files with the correct DAR. To fix this without a re-encode use Yamb (or mp4box).
DAR: For US sold models, the ratio should be 40:33. Another source says NTSC widescreen is 864x480, which means the proper ratio for NTSC widescreen video should be 864:720, which simplifies to 54:45.
40:33 82.50% 872x480 1.8167:1 54:45 83.33% 864x480 slightly less wide 1.8:1
mp4box and use this batch file :
@ECHO OFF :LOOP "E:\Program Files\Yamb\mp4box.exe" -par 1=54:45 %1 SHIFT IF [%1]==[] GOTO END GOTO LOOP :END
Replace the path to mp4box as appropriate. Then just drag and drop files to be fixed onto the bat file.

Battery
- Samsung IA-BP85ST, Li Ion
Charger
- See AC_DC_Adapter_Reference#Samsung_AA-E9
- AC Adapter AD44-00116B
- Part Number: AA-E9, AD44-00116B, AD44-00116A
- 100V~240V Switching AC Power Adapter Input (Output 8.4V 2A)
- Positive Tip polarity
This is the Samsung AC Adapter with the squared connector. Many Samsung camera models need this squared connector.
AC Adapter (Charger) testing
- According to a Extech Voltmeter the positive tip voltage is exactly 8.42v
- According to the label on the adapter the voltage should be 8.4V at 9A (match)
