        Note To configure settings, Mobile Hotspot must be turned on Mobile Hotspot switch, On icon.

Configure hotspot

    Tap Configure hotspot.

    From the Configure hotspot screen, configure the following as needed:

        Network SSID
+
        Hide my device
+
        Note Enabled when a check mark is present.

        Security
+
            Open
+
            Note If presented with Warning screen, tap Continue.

            WPA2 PSK
+
        Password
+
        Note Password can be changed.
+
        Show password
+
        Note Enabled when a check mark is present.

        If needed, tap Show advanced options.

        Note Enabled when a check mark is present.

        When Advanced options are enabled, configure the following:
+
            Tap the appropriate Broadcast channel:
+
                2.4 GHz Band
+
                5 GHz Band
+
            Tap the channel Dropdown menu Drop down menu icon then tap the appropriate channel (i.e. Auto, 1 - 11).

            Note Auto (default setting) is recommended.

    Tap Save.

    To create a list of devices that can connect to the hotspot, tap Allowed devices.

    Note To set allowed devices:

            Tap the Add icon + (upper-right).

            Enter the device name and MAC address then tap OK.

    Tap the Back icon Back icon (lower-left).

    From the Mobile Hotspot screen, tap the device name (e.g., SM-N910Vxxxx).

    Note By default, xxxx are the last 4 digits of of the Wi-Fi MAC address.

    Tap one of the following:

        All devices
+
        Allowed devices only

configure Mobile Hotspot

  1. From Home screen, navigate: Apps Applications icon > Mobile Hotspot.
  2. From the Wireless and networks section, tap More networks.
  3. Tap Mobile Hotspot.
  4. Tap the Menu icon Menu icon (upper-right) then select Configure hotspot
  5. Tap Configure hotspot.
  6. From the Configure hotspot screen, configure the Network SSID and WPA2 PSK Security and Password
  7. Under "Advanced options" you can configure the Broadcast channel: 2.4 GHz Band or 5 GHz Band

You should consider the appropriate Timeout settings

  1. Tap Timeout settings.
  2. Note Sets how long before the hotspot will turn off after no activity.
