  • Processor Pentium 4 socket 478

Memory

This system comes with Rambus memory. Samsung 0246 128MB MB14

  • MR16R1624DF0-CT9
  • 1066-32P 102
  • MR18R1624AF1
  • V10-8L

This is 800MHz 184pin 2.5v Rambus Memory

Samsung 800_40 128MB 40ns EC RDRAM

128/4

According to the dell information "adding memory," it says to flash the bios after adding the memory. As you say the latest upgrade is A04. There are a couple of ways to do it, one involving floppy's, but the one I found to be much more simple is to download it directly to the desktop and then double click to install to the hard drive drive.

Memory Type:

PC800 or PC1066 RDRAM (non-ECC), 64-, 128-, 256-, and 512-MB non-ECC, Maximum support 2 GB for PC800, 1.5 GB for PC1066 PC 1066 (non-ECC) only on computers with a 533-MHz system clock speed

PC1066 only on computers with a 533-MHz system clock speed. *PC800 on computers with either a 400- or a 533-MHz system clock speed. *According to Dell user's guide, only supports Non-ECC module. *2GB (PC800), 1.5GB (PC1066)

  • Must be 40ns latency or lower!

Looking to upgrade? This is a rare type of memory that is somewhat difficult to find. It is unavailable from common preferred sources such as newegg.com. This type of memory must be purchased in pairs because you have to add it to the system in pairs, and you will have to flash your system bios after the memory upgrade.

hint: next time avoid buying a Dell or any system that uses obscure expensive specialty ram like Rambus.

Before Upgrading Ram

  1. See what the clock speed is set to on your system, 400MHz or 533MHz.
  2. Download and have ready the bios update from Dell
  3. Select RAM that is PC1066
  4. Make sure Latency is 40ns or less

vendors

Cannot verify TS1GDL350 is compatible, According to Transcend will only publish the TS256MDL350 (a 256MB module) as verified compatible with this Dell System
