Orthodox 2 panel file manager for Macintosh
muCommander is a lightweight, open-source, cross-platform file manager that will run on any operating system supporting Java. It features a Norton Commander style, dual-pane interface to allow easy manipulation of files with many keyboard shortcuts.
Fixes problems, such as easily connect a Mac to a Windows network share.
Install muCommander. Tested on Catalina using muCommander version 0.9.5
If installing from muCommander web site and not the Apple App Store it is necessary to override security permissions for installation.
muCommander uses a working implementation of CIFS / SMBv1.0 and can access shares on older NAS devices from a Macintosh computer.

Gatekeeper is a macOS security feature that only lets you open Apple-trusted software. It may present to you a message that “macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware."
(A) you can bypass Gatekeeper restrictions by control-clicking the application and selecting Open from the pop-up menu. A new alert warns you the software is unverified by Apple and may contain malicious software, but you can still choose to Open it anyway. -or-

launching an app causes it to bounce a couple times then nothing happens
When trying to launch a program from the dock on OSX, 10.14 or below, the app icon bounces but the program fails to launch. Keywords: Mac, Bounce, Software, Launch, OSX
This can be due to security settings on OSX preventing programs downloaded from the internet from running. This setting can change after OSX is updated.
The log was not clear why the program terminated. It had to be uninstalled, and reinstalled as the non-privileged user with administrator authentication, and then the Gatekeeper override was necessary as described above.
