Converting Key Words avi , mpeg , mpg , divx xvid .

This guide will explain how to convert an

  • AVI to DivX,
  • DV to DivX,
  • XVID to DivX,
  • DivX to DivX,
  • VCD(MPG/DAT) to DivX,
  • SVCD(MPG) to DivX,
  • DVD(MPG/VOB) to DivX or
  • ASF to DivX.

With MP3 audio. You can also use this guide to reconvert DivX 3 to DivX 4+ or convert to uncompressed AVI or XVID.

  • Launch Virtualdub/Nandub
  • Open the Videoclip that you want to convert, File->Open video file
  • (If you are converting from a VCD, open the .dat file in the MPEGAV folder.)
  • (If you are converting from a SVCD, open the .mpg in the MPEG2 folder. Be also sure to use Virtualdub-MPEG2)
  • Select under Video->Fast recompress (Do not use full processing, read here why)
  • Select also under Audio->Full processing (If you are only going to reconvert the video choose Audio->Direct Stream Copy and use Virtualdub MP3 Freeze).
  • Select Video->Compression
  • Select Audio->Compression
  • (Optional Select Video->Filters (see below here ) - required step for SVCD or if you want to resize/crop the video)
  • And last hit File->Save AVI.
  • Done.
