Mary Jean Ritter's Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

  • 1 Cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 Cups Quaker Whole Oats
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 Cup raisins
  • 3/4 cup shortening (soft)

Sift dry ingredients into bowl. Add shortening, brown sugar, eggs, and half the milk. Beat until smooth, about two minutes. Fold in remaining milk, raisins and rolled oats. Drop from a teaspoon onto greased baking sheet and bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 12 minutes (or a little less, depending on your oven.)
