2014 Update- Adobe is constantly changing the name and behavior of their spyware installer, as well as the location of downloads on their site. They do this to discourage circumvention of their spyware background installer. Links are changing faster than information can be updated here. Please post any comments about dead links or new circumvention techniques in the discussion section.

Download Adobe Flash Without Adobe Download Manager - Adobe DLM - GetPlus - GetPlus is a software Adobe uses to put the Adobe Flash Player on your computer.
Adobe changed the way Flash is installed. Now they force their download manager software on your system and use it as a medium to install Flash Player. This is very bad because their download manager runs in background memory, makes your computer slower, and opens security risks that hackers can exploit.
Adobe Download Manager adds files to the operating system and poses a security risk which has been verified in the past.
Adobe Flash can be installed without the Adobe Download Manager. However, Adobe is making it more difficult to circumvent installation of DLM. Adobe is not a very good company. We try to keep the most current circumvention method posted here.
Latest download details (1/2014) is version 12.0.0.38. The file fp_12.0.0.38_archive.zip from the Adobe web site is over 100mb because it contains full installers for several operating systems.
For Windows XP, the flashplayer12_0r0_43_win file should be extracted from the zip archive and used for installation. Extract just the file flashplayer12_0r0_43_win and then you can delete the zip archive. Install Flash Player from flashplayer12_0r0_43_win.
!Warning - The Flash installer will try to trick you into installing some McAfee (Firefox), or Google Toolbar (Internet Explorer), unless you untick a checkbox every time you update. It is recommended that you DO NOT INSTALL these piggyback programs. Make sure to uncheck the appropriate box within the installer interface. That box is checked by default, you will need to manually change it.
What is a Full Install File?
The full install file differs from the installer on the Adobe web site. Adobe wants you to use a pointless Download Manager which itself has had security issues and which is a similar size to the actual thing it is downloading. (The installer itself will download the latest version, and doesn't include the code itself, so there is still a download manager in a way, but it's not something that plugs into your web browser for no reason, and it makes sense to ensure you're installing the latest version even if the installer itself is older.) They do provide standalone installers/updaters but they keep moving around the links (and sometimes the files themselves) in an ever-changing maze of web documents.
Legacy Information
There previously was two options to download Adobe Flash without the Adobe Download Manager. Keep in mind that there are different versions of Flash depending on the web browser that is used to access the website.
The old Adobe Flash download links are no longer active.
