Sadly, most of these systems assume everyone has their own smart-phone. These companies consider the smart phone a necessary device while the IRS still considers it a luxury item and subject to luxury tax.

DUO Security - a company providing a specific 2FA software solution.

Duo two-factor authentication is typically accomplished with a smartphone device such as iPhone or Android, however some alternatives are available.

Once you have enrolled in Duo Two-Factor Authentication you will log in as usual with your ID and password, and then verify your identity by accepting a push notification from the mobile app, entering a passcode sent in a text message or answering a phone call.

Two-factor authentication adds a second layer of security to your username, keeping your account secure even if your password is compromised. You’ll be alerted right away on your enrolled mobile device if someone is trying to log in as you. This second factor of authentication is separate and independent from your username and password.
