Sane - Scanner Access Now Easy
Xsane - X user interface for SANE
As an alternative to SimpleScan aka Simple Scan or "Document Scanner" on Mint / Ubuntu you may find the features and capability of Xsane a great alternative. Xsane is a graphical user interface for the SANE project.
This scanning tool for Linux even supports the scanners that don’t have native driver support for Linux. There is a GIMP plugin for this tool that makes the process a lot easier. Apart from scanning, it can print, photocopy, and fax documents. All the basic image enhancement features are built-in with this tool.
Easily installed on Ubuntu and Mint
sudo apt install xsane
Several user interfaces have been written to combine SANE with an easy user method of controlling it. Simple Scan and Xsane are both examples of this. XSane is a graphical front end for SANE written by Oliver Rauch.
Combined with the appropriate Image Editing Software for Linux and Image Viewing Software for Linux using XSane to acquire images from a scanned source will facility a full level of productivity under Linux.
