break in new bike

I only use dot 4 for brakes. For engine oil it really depends on the season and how hot your bike is running. For summer I run 20w50 but regardless don't ever trust the guys you buy from. Put your oil in for break in and go easy on it. Check your valves before you ride then check again after a few hours of riding and adjust if needed (you shouldn't hear your valves lifting and closing). Also take every bolt off the bike and add lock tight. These Chinese bikes are notorious for rattling apart (really EVERY BOLT). Also enjoy the bike and don't let me or anyone else scare you away. Chinese pit bikes can be great if you make sure to take proper care of them.

  1. Change the oil right away before you start the engine with 10w40 nonsynthetic oil.
  2. Engine Break in , Run at low speeds with very low loads for the first 2-4 hrs. its ok to rev it up , just don't put a large load on the engine like big hills ect.Change oil after engine break in.
  3. Check Oil Level before running each time and when oil looks dirty its time to change it.
  4. Air filter must be kept clean and properly oiled
  5. Check all fasteners , Locktite is a liquid that holds bolts secure and is available at most any auto parts stores. Loctite nuts and bolts with Blue loctite.
  6. Check Valve Lash (.003 intake and .004 exhaust)
  7. Tire Pressure must be 20 psi minimum
  8. Carb tuning and adjustment this machine may need tuning and adjustments to you specific area
  9. Check all wheel spokes , Re-Check all spokes after EVERY ride for the first 5-10 rides untill they settle in place , then check periodically
  10. Make 100% Sure the engine crankcase breather hose located on the top rear of the engine is clear (often Black hose with a 90 deg bend ,a slit is common and acceptable)
  • Lube throttle and clutch cables (WD 40 , not grease)
  • Check and adjust shock/fork settings (compression and dampening)
  • Add an in-line fuel filter

Grease steering head bearing and tighten Grease swing arm pivot bolt with anti-seize lube Grease front and rear axles with anti-seize lube. Do not grease the threads Check Valve Lash (.003 intake and .004 exh) Check tire pressure Check chain slack. 1” - 1.5” slack at middle of swingarm Level carb - side to side If gas overflows, set the float level. Stock float levels are also known to be out of adjustment sometimes Add rim locks if possible. At least on the rear rim Check gas tank for debris , dust or flash and remove
