Video Card Linux Compatibility
Graphics cards (Nvidia) require proprietary drivers to operate correctly. Linux is an open-source platform, and many Linux operating systems choose not to ship closed-source drivers. Both Nvidia and AMD support Linux distributors in limited ways, and the drivers might be available to download at the respective manufacturer’s website’s download section.
AMD Radeon GPUs often use open-source drivers. Linux developers do not control the drivers AMD does. Cards not supported will never get drivers, no matter how many Mint editions come out.
