From the Receiver to Your Router

When the IHub was introduced, it provided a way to connect some FTA satellite receivers to the Internet via your router and an Ethernet cable. Since then the IHub has been retired.

Newlink was another method introduced after the IHub.

Currently, SVLan is the method being used to connect your FTA receiver to the Internet.

SVLan Setup

1. The Hardware: The hardware is the LAN adapter for the receiver and it is IDENTICAL for the adapters sold as iHub, NewLink or the current SVLAN. You MUST have one of these adapter to enable your receiver to connect to a server.

2. The Software: The software that runs on the LAN Adapter, the FIRMWARE, is what actually makes the LAN adapter act as an iHub, NewLink or SVLAN.

Instructions:

  1. LAN Adapter (whatever firmware, iHub/Newlink/SVLAN). As Kareen said, if you buy an adapter now, it is sold under the name SVLAN because it's already at SVLAN firmware level, so you can skip Step 2 below.
  2. Update LAN adapter firmware to latest SVLAN Level v4.8 (performed via receiver file found here in the Files Section > SV-LAN)
  3. Purchase either:
    1. SVLAN a Serial Number via internet seller to enable access Akai Public Server -or-
    2. b) Access to a 3rd Party Public Server

E Enter SN and/or other provided information into your receiver IPCONFIG section.
