In XP folders with pictures could put upto 4 thumbnails on the folder icon in thumbnail view. In Vista, I get the open folder with some angled pictures mostly obscured. Looks pretty, but not very functional.

a tool called Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnail Customizer. Get it here: http://tinyurl.com/ydoh7zj - when you reach this site, do not click on the "Start Download" you'll see beside Fix Windows Installer. The button you want it about halfway down the page, and is a downward pointing arrow centered on the page. It's right below a sentence that begins: UPDATE. As the directions there explain, once you install the program the easiest way to resize the thumbnails is to simply adjust the sliders under Thumbnail Size. Don't worry about making a mistake: at any point, just click Restore Defaults to erase any changes you make in the taskbar thumbnails. The tool also allow you to adjust spacing around the thumbnails, and adjust the mouse delay time.
