The difference between "private search engine" and "secure search engine" is explained on Private Search Engines.

Just because a search is "secure" (encrypting your search query) does not mean it is private. The search provide may or may not still be tracking you depending on their terms and conditions. For privacy you need to use one of the Private Search Engines.
