convert old format to new Quicken format
If you need 2004 as an intermediate to perform conversion of a very old version, then see How and When to Use an Intermediate Version To Convert Older Versions of Quicken
If, for example, you are using Quicken for Windows 2001 and want to upgrade to Quicken for Windows 2014. You will want to install Quicken 2004 first (the intermediate version) so your file can convert properly to the newer format. Once your file has been properly converted, then you can install Quicken 2014 and convert your file again.
The first 6 versions of Quicken for Windows were called Quicken 1, Quicken 2, etc. After Quicken 6, Intuit started using the year as a convention for naming our software. That started with Quicken 98.
print from Quicken 2000
- Old Quicken + new PC = can't print
When running Quicken 2000 on Microsoft Windows 7, you will not be able to access the printers. The old Quicken was not programmed correctly and therefore cannot recognize the printers via the correct Windows API.
You can choose to print to a Microsoft XPS Document.
According to Microsoft, "After printing to the .xps file format, you can view an XPS document by browsing to it and opening it. You can print a paper copy, share the XPS document, or send it to a commercial printer or to other people in any way that you prefer."
