The Nintendo Wii (pronounced we) is a video game console manufactured by Foxconn and first released in 2006. What made the Wii unique upon introduction was the wireless pointing device control system which detects motion in three dimensional space. It was also the smallest video console, the size of the main unit body being a little over 6 inches tall and 8.5 inches deep.The main controller is the Wii wireless remote, often called a "Wii Mote." The mote uses a combination of built-in accelerometers and infrared detection to sense its position in 3D space when pointed at the LEDs within the Sensor Bar.
