== Unlock Your Wii ==If you unlock Nintendo Wii you will be able to play old school console games, make backups of your games, and even watch dvds. This article will give you a few methods how to unlock your Wii.Refers to altering the machine's firmware.  Key Terms:  Unlock, Homebrew, Channel, Crack, Hack, Flash, Twilight Hack, Gecko OS, StartPatchBenefits:* Backup Games and play backup discs on your Wii.* Play homebrew games on your Wii* Play DVDs, mp4 files, avi files and many other video formats.* Run emulators to play classic games like Contra, Double dragon, duck hunt etc.* Play games from other regions such as Japan, China.* Listen to radio, mp3, and even play YouTube videos on your WiiThere are multiple ways to unlock the Nintendo Wii Game Console# Installing a mod chip - requires physical alteration and a special bios that is compatible with the mod chip # Install the Homebrew Channel system software - There is a way to do this with and without something called a "Twilight Hack."Research References* Twilight Hack: * Bannerbomb Exploit: This has been blocked with Wii Menu 4.3.* Do not downgrade your Wii menu version, ever.If you have Wii Menu 4.3 and you want to install the Homebrew Channel you have to use an in-game exploit in games such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Lego Indiana Jones.Once you have unlocked your Wii using the Homebrew Channel method, keep in mind that upgrading the menu version (installing a Wii system update from Nintendo) will delete the Homebrew Channel.  The Homebrew Channel does NOT alter the Wii system software, it installs like a channel. Gecko OS or StartPatch (software) can be used to play games that require updates (if your Wii menu is out of date and a new game requires a menu of a later version) without actually installing them. Gecko OS lets you boot the game and bypass updates. StartPatch makes your Disc Channel ignore them.
