Standard TRS audio plugs should work fine in these devices for audio playback from the Android phone to a stereo receiver. Shorting the microphone and ground doesn't seem to harm the device for most phones with the Nokia TRRS jack. Along came Apple Computer Company with their iPod and iPhone audio devices.
