HDMI and HDCP connectors are primarily for the video equipment industry, but these connectors may also appear on PC video capture devices and in the case of the HDMI, on new video cards.

HDCP

High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)

This is a bastard technology developed by Intel that prevents legitimate use and backup of digital video source. Although HDCP is a way of encrypting and transmitting a video signal stream, there is also a specific type of hardware connector that shares the same name, HDCP. An HDCP encrypted signal may be applied DVI, HDMI, GVIF, and UDI connections, it is assumed that the HDCP style connector is reserved for HDCP only signal.
