The Kenwood TS-830S is a Hybrid HF Transceiver. It is designed for SSB and CW modes in the 160 through 10 meter ham bands, and additionally includes the 30, 17 and 12 meter WARC bands. Power input is 220 watts PEP SSB and 180 watts DC CW. The finals are a pair of 6146B tubes.

The TS-830S is not a general coverage receiver.

*some moron ham originally created this list, but offered it in such poor resolution as a JPG even though it was B&W I figured since anyone could be that stupid they do not deserve credit for its creation.
  • Replace capacitors with new
  • check final tubes for emission standards
  • check driver tube
  • clean and lubricate (with a Teflon based lube) shafts and mechanical parts
  • clean the VFO shaft. Remove side panel off VFO and clean with contact cleaner.
  • inspect for burnt resistors, check relays.
  • check voltage of regulator board
