Installation
As of 2012 VirtualDubMod hasn't had much activity in development or updates. The last update was years ago. The website got a facelift but was never completed. There is ZERO documentation or support on the web site.
The downloads page is misleading. When clicking download user is taken to the sourceforge download portal. At the top there is a line that reads "Looking for the latest version? Download VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_2_b2542.zip (955.8 kB)" which is NOT THE FULL PROGRAM, but only a couple files that are basically patches (updates).
To download do the following:
- Step 1: Download the COMPLETE file set from the Home / VirtualDubMod page. The last known build is from 2005.
- Direct Download for VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2 file VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_2_All_inclusive.zip.
- Step 2: Download the updated patched files, there are 2 of them in zip format.
- Step 3: These are not installers. They are zipped program and associated files. Manually create a folder on your filesystem where you want to put the files. I recommend c:\program files\virtualdubmod and upzip VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_2_All_inclusive into your folder, be sure to preserve the directory structure within the zip.
- Step 4: Now unzip VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_2_b2542 and copy those two files over the top of the ones in the folder you created.
You will need to create your own program shortcuts to the VirtualDubMod executable.
If you plan on working with formats such as Xvid, you will need to download and install the codecs.
