WordPerfect 8 Windows Compatibility

Corel announced that WordPerfect Office X5 is compatible with Windows 7. Older versions are not fully compatible. Word Perfect 8 can function on Windows 7 with some tweaking and a few workarounds.

WordPerfect 8 will install on on Windows 7 x64. Compatibility mode ok. You will have to run WordPerfect as "administrator" in order for some features (like saving settings) to work.

Windows Vista / 7 / 8

Can't "Save As..." or create new documents, but can save overwrite existing.

  • Tools, Settings, Files, "Use enhanced file dialogs". Turn it off.
  • change permissions in security settings for the program
  • Right-click and open/run WordPerfect as Administratior
