The Dentron GLA-1000 linear amplifier hit the market in the 1970s and was compact, reasonably priced, and promised 1200 watts PEP. Dentron followed the GLA-1000 with the GLA-1000B which added a tuned input circuit, a 2-port antenna switch, an extra indicator light. Replacement tubes for this amplifier are becoming scarce, with 6LQ6 tubes going for around $50 each and this amplifier requires four of them.

There are modern modifications to substitute the old tubes for less expensive and more reliable modern components. However, this is a very basic amplifier and offers nothing more than the most basic operation features.

Some people confuse the Dentron GLA-1000 with the Dentron GLT-1000, which is an antenna tuner. One letter can dramatically change the function of the device.
