A newer Wireless Access Point, Router, and Bridge that replaced the wonderful Asus WL-500gP. It is described as the ASUS RT-N16 Wireless Router 802.11b/g/n up to 300Mbps DD-WRT Open Source support with USB Storage, Printer And Media Server. This router uses the 802.11n DRAFT wireless standard, which is backwards compatible with the older 802.11b/g standard, allowing it to work with a wide range of Wi-Fi-enabled equipment. The ASUS RT-N16 is easy to set up and features a host of security features like WEP and WPA2 configuration. But no one in their right mind would be using WEP!
The Asus RT-N16 is a middle class router from 2010 with gigabit ethernet and 802.11n draft. It is based on the Broadcom BCM47xx SoC platform.
The ASUS RT-N16 is still available as of August 2014.
There are 3rd party firmware for this model. OpenWRT also an option. Untested here.
