If you are in the computer service industry, please feel free to copy and use this computer service checklist. Use it as a guide to develop your own service checklist for your business.

Computer Service Checklist

WINDOWS
[ ] Create a Windows System Restore Point
[ ] Current Service Pack installed
[ ] Install available Windows Security Updates
[ ] MSIE current
[ ] Check Device Drivers for ! 
[ ] Tighten MSIE Security Settings
[ ] Clear Recycle Bin and Undelete cache
[ ] Check Pagefile size, health, and memory
SOFTWARE
[ ] Stop unwanted startup programs (HKEY LU, KKEY LM, STARTUP GRP) TSR(s) 
[ ] Recover HDD Space
[ ] Check registry integrity
[ ] Test for file system fragmentation
[ ] Check protected system files, repair if necessary
[ ] Check installed software, remove unnecessary software
[ ] Update Macromedia Flash and Silverlight
[ ] Update DirectX
[ ] Check for known virus (malware, spyware, trojans)
WEB BROWSERS
[ ] Un-needed toolbars and browser add-ons removed
[ ] Clean MSIE browser cache and junk files
[ ] Update Firefox / Chrome / Clean browser (cache)
[ ] Install NoScript (firefox)

HARDWARE
[ ] Voltage check PSU or power adapter
[ ] Boot system prior to removal of components or cleaning
[ ] Clean system with compressed air
[ ] Wipe down exterior
[ ] Clean optical drive
[ ] Visual Inspect Motherboard for issues
[ ] Check fans (noise, health)
[ ] RAM test
[ ] Hard drive surface scan (bad sectors, seek test)
[ ] Optical drive tests
[ ] Magnetic drive tests
[ ] USB port test (dtr test)
[ ] capacitor health on motherboard
UPGRADE RECOMMENDATIONS
[ ] sufficient RAM for OS and software?
[ ] sufficient free HD space, remaining space?
